Old Capitol Renovation

Client: Old Capitol Museum

Location: Iowa City, Iowa

The University of Iowa, contracted Presentations during the extensive restoration of Old Capitol Museum to exhibit consult, concept, design and fabricate permanent exhibits for the historical areas of the museum and temporary exhibit elements for the new spaces.

Elements for donor recognition, visitor barriers, audio/video kiosks and changeable displays for the rotunda were completed. Custom millwork knives were made for the workwork and everything was fabricated to match the original architecture of Old Capitol. The gift shop cabinetry was designed and built with hidden storage and to move around easily but still look original to the building.  The final results are an exhibit system that fits perfectly into the historical elements of the building while adding important interaction for the visitors and ease of use by the staff.
